Why choose an electrical infrared (thermal) inspection? Infrared is the best method to look for abnormal heating of electrical components. It is non-destructive and does not require shutdown. How sensitive is the infrared camera being used? The infrared camera can detect temperature differences of .1 or 1/10 deg Celsius. Are there conditions required before a scan can be done? An electrical scan can be performed at any time, preferably when site is in full operation. The only limitation is access to the area being scanned and the presence of an electrician. How long does a scan take? The time to perform the scan depends on the amount of equipment to be scanned. It may be necessary to perform the scan over several days for large installations. What type of report will I receive? The report will sent in PDF format via email. A thermal report contains written detail on the physical location, equipment id and component id. The visual / thermal images are accompanied with load measurements (if taken) also any visual defects observed. How long will it take to receive the report of the scan? Depends on the size of the installation being scanned, usually within 5 business days.
